What is DSR and Why Does It Matter?
DSR (Debt Service Ratio) is the percentage of your gross monthly income that goes towards paying all debt instalments. Malaysian banks use this to assess your loan repayment ability before approving any financing.
Formula: DSR = (Total Monthly Debt ÷ Gross Monthly Income) × 100
Note: DSR limits vary by bank and income level. High income earners above RM10,000/month may qualify for higher DSR limits up to 80% at some banks. Always check directly with your bank before applying.
